After nearly a week of flight disruptions, IndiGo, India’s largest airline, is returning to normal operations on its UAE-India routes. The airline had cancelled a total of 500 domestic flights on Sunday, a significant improvement from 1,000 cancellations on Friday and 700 on Saturday. These cancellations affected thousands of passengers, causing widespread travel chaos.
The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted IndiGo a 24-hour extension to respond to a crucial show-cause notice regarding the disruptions. The DGCA warned that failure to reply in time would result in an ex-parte decision. Meanwhile, IndiGo has processed refunds worth Rs6,100 million to compensate affected passengers.
The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation has assured passengers that misplaced luggage during the disruptions will be delivered within the next 48 hours. The airline and officials continue to work together to restore confidence and streamline operations between the UAE and India.
Passengers are urged to:
- Check their flight status regularly
- Contact IndiGo’s customer service for refund or rebooking options
The airline is aiming for a smooth travel experience as the festive season approaches, emphasizing safety and convenience.
