
Jan 24, 2025, Nigeria: A United Airlines flight 613 from Lagos to Washington Dulles International Airport was forced to make an emergency handling in Lagos, Nigeria.
This happened after experiencing movement, resulting in the injuries of six people.
The incident occurred on Friday, January 24, and injured individuals, including four passengers and 2 crew members. They were taken to a nearby hospital and have since been released. Investigation is underway for the cause of the investigation. United Airlines is working with aviation authorities in The US and the West African country Nigeria to determine the cause of incident.
The flight which was operated by Boeing 787, was carrying 245 passengers, eight flight attendants, and three pilots. The plane made an emergency landing in Lagos Nigeria about 93 minutes after takeoff.
Videos recorded by passengers show chaos on board, with trays, food, and other products being strewn across the flight’s floor. According to The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, there were 11 crew members except 245 passengers and 38 individuals reported injuries. Among them, 4 passengers and two crew members sustained crucial injuries.
With the ongoing investigation underway a reminiscing episode of March comes into view, where a 787 en route departing from Sydney experienced a technical event during which the flight caused a strong movement which left 50 injured.
A report suggested that this incident was caused by one of the pilot’s seats being moved forward unintentionally when a flight attendant accidentally switched on the seat.
The reason for the in-flight jolt remains unclear. United Airlines stated that I was not sure about the turbulence and that an investigation was ongoing to determine the cause.
