The UAE experienced unexpected rainfall in certain regions during the Eid Al Adha 2025 celebrations. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the forecast anticipated fair to partly cloudy skies alongside some convective cloud formation resulting in rain, particularly in the eastern and northern parts of the country. Notably, videos from Khor Fakkan displayed raindrops blurring views through car windshields and a light drizzle over the city.
This rainfall coincided with the start of the Eid holiday, a significant period for the UAE community. Despite the weather conditions, residents actively engaged in prayers and festivities across the nation. For instance, in Abu Dhabi, a previously less-known mosque became a vibrant gathering place as worshippers convened for Eid prayers, exchanged warm greetings, and captured memorable photographs. Additionally, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan participated in Eid prayers at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, accompanied by senior officials.
The celebration period included:
- Family gatherings featuring expats reconnecting over sweets and traditional karak tea
- Two families in Dubai welcoming newborns born on the auspicious day, enhancing the festive spirit
The Eid Al Adha festivities also served as a reflection on the 18th anniversary of Cyclone Gonu, which had necessitated mass evacuations. This highlighted the critical importance of preparedness during unexpected weather events.
