Separate Crash in Waimauku Leaves Two Seriously Injured
Earlier in the day, a separate two-vehicle crash on Old North Road in Waimauku, north of Auckland, left two people seriously injured. The accident, shortly before 6:30 am (NZT) on Wednesday, prompted a swift emergency response.
One individual is in critical condition, while the other sustained serious injuries.
Police are investigating the crash, which appeared to be a head-on collision. Footage from the scene showed the wreckage of both vehicles. A witness reported that the road was “pretty wet” at the time of the crash and suggested the cars may have struck each other while navigating a bend.
Traffic is currently being diverted at the intersections with Deacon Road and Waikoukou Valley Road as police continue their investigation.
