Feb 10, Sunday, India: British pop Star Ed Sheeran was stopped from busking by local police in Bengaluru. Sheeran was performing on Church Street, a busy shopping and entertainment area when the singer was performing on Church Street.
A police officer unplugged his microphone mid-performance, causing frustration among the crowd of fans who had gathered to watch him play his hit song “Shape of You”
According to local police, Sheeran’s team had requested permission to busk on Church Street, but it was denied to avoid congestion in the area. However, Ed Sheeran insisted on Instagram that they had received permission to perform in that the performance was planned.
According to Indian News, the police were not aware of his identity and he had not been granted permission to stage a public performance by the Cubbon Park Police or the Church Street Association.
The incident occurred ahead of Sheeran’s scheduled Mathematics Tour concert at NICE Grounds in Bengaluru. Despite the incident, Sheeran went on to perform at the concert later that night, accompanied by Indian singer Shilpa Rao.
Local lawmakers have defended the police’s actions, stating that even global stars must follow local rules and obtain necessary permissions before performing in public spaces. Keep Reading Questiqa.com and Questiqa.us for more updates.
