The ongoing tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran are significantly affecting air travel in the UAE. On the second day of escalating conflict, several UAE airlines have cancelled all flights to and from Dubai Airport until 3 pm on Sunday.
Flight Cancellations and Passenger Support
Over 700 flights across the Middle East have been cancelled due to the ongoing US-Iran war. Experts anticipate further cancellations as airlines continue to update their schedules. The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the UAE has announced its full support for impacted passengers. About 20,200 passengers have received assistance, which includes:
- Temporary accommodations
- Meals
- Rebooking help
In response to the uncertainty, UAE residents are delaying travel bookings and opting for refundable fares.
Security Measures in Place
Heightened security measures include a one-week suspension of flight permits for drones, gliders, and amateur aircraft over the country.
Drone Interceptions and Threat Neutralization
Authorities have intercepted drones over Dubai’s key locations such as Jebel Ali Port and Burj Al Arab, which caused minor fires that were swiftly addressed by emergency teams. The UAE’s ministry revealed it has neutralized:
- 209 Iranian drones
- 137 ballistic missiles
This highlights the seriousness of the threat. The public is urged to avoid sharing outdated videos or misinformation during this sensitive time.
