Israel has announced daily tactical pauses in its military operations in specific parts of Gaza to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid. These pauses occur from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time in areas such as Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City, and will continue until further notice.
This decision comes amid rising international pressure and widespread concern over the severe hunger crisis affecting 2.2 million residents of Gaza, many of whom face mass starvation. Humanitarian organizations have expressed apprehension about the deteriorating conditions and have welcomed the establishment of new humanitarian corridors designed to enable the safe passage of United Nations convoys carrying essential food and supplies.
Recent efforts to provide relief include:
- Resumption of aid airdrops after several months, supported by Jordan and the United Arab Emirates who dropped a combined 25 tons of relief materials.
- Creation of safe routes for delivery convoys.
However, some challenges persist. There have been reports of injuries caused by aid pallets dropped over densely populated areas, and Israel’s interception of the Handala, an activist and aid ship bound for Gaza, in international waters has further complicated relief efforts.
Despite these tactical pauses easing access temporarily, an internal memo reveals that this humanitarian arrangement is set to last only one week. The global community continues to watch closely as Gaza’s situation remains critical, underscoring the urgent need for sustained aid delivery and a peaceful resolution.
