
India has successfully evacuated 2,295 of its citizens from Iran amid escalating tensions in West Asia. This large-scale evacuation operation, known as Operation Sindhu, included a special flight from Mashhad, Iran, which arrived in New Delhi carrying 292 Indians.
The Indian government has been actively working to ensure the safe return of its nationals from the region, which has witnessed rising conflict between Iran and Israel. The Indian Air Force has been pivotal in these efforts, deploying C-17 aircraft to conduct evacuation missions in Jordan and Egypt as well, bringing back 594 Indian nationals from Israel.
Minister of State Dr. L Murugan personally welcomed the returnees in Delhi, highlighting the government’s commitment to the safety of its citizens abroad. The operation continues amid uncertainty and rising geopolitical tensions.
