The United Arab Emirates experienced intense rain and thunderstorms overnight into Friday, causing waterlogged roads and affecting daily commutes in several areas. Dubai and Fujairah were among the most impacted regions, with local authorities urging residents to stay cautious.
In Fujairah, a motorist was injured after his vehicle rolled over due to the heavy rains. The driver was quickly transferred to Fujairah Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Dubai Municipality reopened beaches and parks as weather conditions improved, but they reminded the public to continue taking necessary safety precautions.
Many motorists showed increased caution on the roads, resulting in fewer distress calls compared to previous flooding experiences. Recovery drivers noted a sharp drop in emergency requests, indicating that lessons learned from the April 2024 floods are helping improve safety.
In addition, some Dubai residents expressed appreciation for calm weather moments, with several praying outdoors near mosques to enjoy the cool breeze.
Support for Vulnerable Animals
Efforts are also underway to help vulnerable animals affected by the rain. A Dubai resident is actively assisting animals with no shelter, as flooding and cold temperatures present serious challenges for stray and sick creatures.
