
Popular Meta-owned apps Instagram and WhatsApp are back online after a mass global outage which affected several Meta-owned apps on Wednesday. Facebook has yet not confirm whether all of its issues have been resolved. Meta said on X “Thanks for bearing with us! We’re 99% of the way there – just doing some last checks. We apologize to those who’ve been affected by the outage,” Meta, which owns the apps, said on X.WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook went through global outages on Wednesday. Meta stated that they were working to restore the applications as soon as several active users reported that issues were operating the applications.
The outage tracking site by Ookla, to DownDetector, says, over 50,000 Facebook users reported login issues, and 23,000 Instagram users experienced problems uploading new posts or updating existing content. Moreover, the outages affected both desktop and mobile devices. These issues were faced around 11 pm (IST). On Instagram alone, there have been around 30,000 reports of issues overall with the social media platform.
As per Downdetector there, 68 percent of users reported that the issues were related to the app while 21 percent reported login issues and 11 percent faced issues while accessing the Instaram website.
As for WhatsApp, the data revealed that 89 percent of WhatsApp users were facing issues with sending messages. The messages were not being sent. 9 percent experienced problems with the app and 2 percent had problems with WhatsApp voice calls. Also, 50 percent of Facebook users were facing issues with the app and 34 percent were facing login issues. The rest were having issues with other features of the Meta-owned social media platform. During this X (formerly Twitter) was filled with memes and comments as users started making fun of Meta Apps.
