The UAE is currently enduring extreme summer heat, with temperatures soaring beyond 50°C in Sharjah during the driest part of the season. Notably, Sharjah recorded a blistering 51.6°C in Sweihan, Al Ain, marking one of the highest temperatures documented so far this year. Other areas such as Abu Dhabi’s Al Quaa and Gasyoura have also experienced intense heat, with temperatures reaching up to 49°C.
Forecasts indicate that Dubai will face highs of 46°C, while Abu Dhabi is expected to reach 47°C, raising significant concerns about the health and safety of residents amid these soaring temperatures. Despite the oppressive heat, occasional rains are anticipated in some regions, including Khor Fakkan. Workers in this area have quickly constructed makeshift shelters to shield themselves from the rain, which provides temporary relief from the relentless heat.
In response to these challenging weather conditions, Fujairah is initiating a major infrastructure project which includes:
- A 77 km rainwater drainage network
- Two new tunnels
This project aims to enhance the region’s ability to manage rainwater flow and improve overall infrastructure resilience.
Authorities have issued a strong advisory urging residents to take necessary precautions during this extreme heat period to stay safe. Continuous monitoring of weather conditions is underway to safeguard public well-being.
