A major fire erupted last night in a 67-storey building located in Dubai Marina, impacting nearly 3,820 residents. The Dubai Civil Defence teams managed to control the blaze within six hours, successfully ensuring the safety of all occupants.
Despite the fire being contained, tenants remain unable to access their belongings as officials carry out ongoing investigations and conduct thorough safety checks.
Evacuation Challenges
Many residents had to evacuate rapidly amid thick smoke and non-functioning alarms. Due to the stairwells being unusable, some residents were forced to use elevators to escape the fire.
Current Situation for Tenants
Currently, affected tenants are staying with friends or relatives while the situation is stabilized. Notably, one resident who was away during the fire assisted in organizing taxis to help those evacuated reach safe locations.
Authorities’ Response
The authorities are diligently working to:
- Restore normalcy to the building
- Complete safety inspections
- Prepare for tenants’ safe return
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported despite the significant distress caused by the fire. The situation is still evolving, and residents remain hopeful for a swift resolution.
