Astronomers in the UAE have successfully spotted the crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah, signaling the beginning of this important Islamic month. This sighting took place at the observatory in Abu Dhabi as well as at the Jebel Al Nazwa location in Dubai.
The team at Jebel Al Nazwa, chosen for its clear horizon and minimal humidity, is part of Dubai’s permanent Moon sighting committee which meets every month. The observation confirmed that the first day of Dhul Hijjah will begin on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Consequently, the celebrations for Eid Al Adha are set to commence on Friday, July 6, 2025.
Residents were encouraged earlier to observe the skies on the evening of May 27 and report any sightings to the Crescent Sighting Committee. This moon sighting is significant as it marks the start of one of the holiest months in the Islamic calendar and the upcoming festive Eid Al Adha.
The community across the UAE is preparing for the upcoming religious events with great anticipation following the official moon sighting announcement. Stay tuned to Questiqa World News for more latest updates.
