February 28, Seoul: South Korean police announced on Friday that they are summoning a Japanese woman for questioning over allegations that she kissed Jin, a member of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, without his consent during a fan event last year. The incident reportedly occurred at a free hug event held in Seoul to celebrate Jin’s discharge from mandatory military service and the band’s 11th anniversary.
An officer from Seoul’s Songpa police station confirmed that the woman is being investigated on allegations of sexual harassment. While the police declined to reveal her identity due to privacy concerns, they stated that the investigation was initiated after an online complaint was filed. Further details were not disclosed as the case is still under review.
According to media reports, South Korean authorities, with assistance from Japanese police, were able to identify the woman, who is in her 50s. However, she has reportedly refused to appear for questioning.
In a blog post cited by South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, the woman reportedly wrote, “My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft.” The post has since drawn widespread criticism from fans and the public.
The case has sparked discussions about boundaries and consent, particularly in interactions between celebrities and fans. While no further details about the investigation have been released, the incident highlights the importance of respecting personal space and consent, even in celebratory settings. Authorities continue to investigate the matter, and fans are eagerly awaiting updates on the case.
BTS’s Jin, who was discharged last year from his military duty, hosted a fan event at the 2024 BTS Festa. He cheerfully greeted the ARMY and gave hugs to 1000 fans. This celebration was hosted to mark BTS’ 11th anniversary. However, an untoward incident with Jin has led to the involvement of cops.

On June 14, Seoul Songpa Police Station confirmed that a complaint had been filed via the National Petition System concerning fans who allegedly attempted to kiss BTS’ Jin, potentially violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.
While most attendees respectfully interacted with Jin at the event, a few fans reportedly tried to kiss the popular idol.
