
A woman was sitting motionless on the NY Subway train, she was on the F train in Coney Island around 7:30 am when a man walked up to her with a lighter in hand and set her on fire. This man is accused of burning a woman to death who was recently identified by federal immigration officials as a 33-year-old Guatemalan who was residing in the United States illegally.
Sebastian Zapeta-Calil first entered the country illegally in 2018 and was later on deported by the same officials. He was charged with first-degree murder and arson the NYPD stated. This man’s address was a homeless shelter for men with abusive problems in Brooklyn. The NYPD also confirmed that the Zapeta-Calil had never met this woman before, he got on the train in Queens, and when the train reached its terminus Coney Island, this incident happened.
There is also a 19-second video circulating on x which was taken by the people around in which a man appears to walk towards the woman with a blanket after she was lit and in another video screams of the people around could be heard. Officers on the upper level soon appeared on the scene from the subway station along with their transit employees with a fire extinguisher, but the woman was declared dead at the scene. When the witnesses were asked about the incident, they brought about the crimes committed by the illegal migrants which made them feel unsafe as citizens of the US. The woman is still unidentified and appears to be homeless stated by the witnesses.
