
January 1, New Orleans, LA: New Orleans truck attack kills 15 people, FBI to investigate. In early New Year Celebrations, A driver rammed and picked up a truck into the crowd on Bourbon Street on New Year’s Day, after the accident, law enforcement officials did not disclose any statement.
On New Year’s Day, at 3:15 a.m., a pickup truck drove into the crowd at high speed at the Canal and Bourbon Street intersection in the French Quarter, a part of New Orleans’ tourist district. This mass destruction has caused 30 casualties and killed 15 people who their lives on the site itself. The New Orleans Disaster Preparedness agency, Nola Ready said it in a statement. The New Orleans mayor LaToya Cantrell has said that the city has been impacted by the terrorist attack and it’s still under investigation.
The FBI is investigating this incident as “an act of terrorism” and also stated that wasn’t solely by the driver. The FBI identified the suspect as a Texas man who is also an American. The vehicle he was driving was rented through Turo, a company informed one of the people. What had happened in the French Quarter happened less than a mile from the Sugar Bowl, where it was supposed to be held a few hours later. However due to the occurrence of this event, the game has been postponed, and the Mardi carnival, which a million people visit annually.
The suspect was killed in a firefighting accident following this event. The FBI is currently searching for his connection to any terrorist activities.
