
WhatsApp has announced the list of Android devices that will no longer be supported from January 1, 2025. The users would no longer be able to use this Meta-owned messaging platform on the listed devices. The citizens must renew their Android device if they wish to keep using WhatsApp and those who own devices with Android KitKat (Android 4.0) wouldn’t be able to use the app.
Earlier this year Meta also announced to drop of support for several iPhone models or iOS 15.1, the affected devices were, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. Now Meta has come onto Android and Meta wants to improve and implement its AI functionalities, and technical standards to enhance its security. Starting January 1, 2025, WhatsApp will no longer support certain devices. It is highly advised to store your data and chats on a new device before that which should be Android version 6.0 or higher, those still running need to upgrade their smartphones or switch their messaging platform.
List of devices that won’t be supported by the Meta-owned app:
- Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy Note 2
- HTC: One X, Desire 601, One X+, Desire 500
- Motorola: Razr HD, Moto G (1st Gen), Moto E (2014)
- Sony: Xperia T, Xperia V, Xperia Z, Xperia SP
- LG: Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90, Optimus
