Dubai Police have issued 720 certificates for vehicles damaged in the recent storms, providing crucial assistance to motorists affected by the severe weather. These certificates serve as official proof of damage, helping vehicle owners navigate insurance claims and repair procedures more smoothly.
The surge in the issuance of such documents started on Monday when many vehicle owners approached authorities to obtain them following the harsh weather. Experts have warned that some motorists could face repair costs as high as Dh25,000, depending on factors like vehicle submersion and water depth.
In addition to the police efforts, community support was significant, with 49 volunteers operating across 77 flooded locations in Dubai. Their work led to the recovery of 30 cars and the return of 279 lost number plates, aiding stranded motorists and supporting emergency responders during these challenging conditions.
The aftermath of the storms has also affected local businesses, with cleaning services and car washes experiencing a sharp increase in demand. Bookings have been fully occupied as residents rush to restore their water-damaged vehicles and homes.
Meanwhile, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai continues infrastructure development, recently completing 13 cycling tracks as part of a wider master plan aimed at enhancing urban mobility and safety.
Authorities advise all motorists to:
- Take necessary precautions during and after rainfall events
- Report any water damage to their vehicles promptly
- Stay updated with official communications for safety and recovery guidelines
