Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, India has intensified Operation Sindhu to evacuate its nationals from the region. So far, the Indian government has successfully evacuated over 3,000 citizens from Iran and Israel.
A special flight from Mashhad, Iran, recently brought 292 Indians back to New Delhi, totaling 2,295 repatriated individuals from Iran alone. In parallel efforts, the Indian Air Force deployed C-17 aircraft for missions in Jordan and Egypt, safely evacuating 594 nationals from Israel.
Minister of State Dr. L Murugan welcomed the returnees upon their arrival in Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs has facilitated travel for those wishing to leave Israel, using land borders followed by air transit to India.
These operations come as regional conflicts disrupt airline operations and create uncertainties for citizens abroad. Indian authorities are coordinating extensive efforts to ensure the safety and timely return of expatriates amid ongoing unrest.
This evacuation drive highlights the government’s commitment to protect its citizens in volatile international situations.
