Feb 1, Saturday 2025: A small medical transport plane has resulted in a fiery crash in Philadelphia on Friday. The medevac plane crashed soon after takeoff in Philadephia on Friday with a child and five others on board.

The plane was carrying a pediatric patient, the patient’s mother, and four crew members. The explosion engulfed several homes and vehicles. The Learjet 55, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, took off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport at 6:06 p.m. and crashed about 30 seconds later near the Roosevelt Mall.

There is no official word yet on the number of injuries or death.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are currently investigating the crash. The Governor of Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro offered all Commonwealth resources to support the response.

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance is a Mexico-based company licensed to operate in the U.S. The Company had a previous fatal incident in Mexico in 2023. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that six people were on board the plane.

As of Saturday, February 01, 2025, authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash and assessing the damage.
